What is a Credibility Interview for UK?
UK Visas & Immigration introduced the UK University credibility interview. It is to ensure that only genuine students get a student visa to study in the UK. It is to ensure that the student applying for a student visa has the true intention of finishing their degree.
Since it is a crucial part of every UK student visa application every student has to attend the interview. It is important for a student to know what is a UK University Credibility interview for a UK student visa. So that, he/she can prepare for the interview.
When you attend the interview you will have to attend along with the necessary documentation. It is to prove that you have an adequate amount of funds available to support your course fees and expenses.
Students unable to do so may end up getting their visa application getting rejected. The interviewer will make sure whether the student is eligible or not depending on the answers given by the student.
There is a specific question format that the interviewer will follow. If the student knows about the format, it is easier for him/her to pass the interview.
At the UK University Credibility interview, you will be asked about the following:
- The student’s intention of visiting the UK
- The student’s financial capabilities in order to make sure that he/she or their guardian can bare the expenses.
- The student’s plans after finishing their course.
- The reasons behind choosing a specific course or university.
- Where the student sees himself in the future. Where they want to work for example.
- Whether the student has a history of visiting the UK in the past.
- The interviewer may ask about the course duration.
- Whether the student knows about the course modules.
- Why the student chose the UK out of many other English-speaking countries.
Important things to note about the interview:
The interviewer will help if the question needs to be repeated or rephrased. However, he/she will keep a note of why you had to ask the question. They will carefully observe how you answer the questions. Whether or not you are aware of the course, university and UK.
They will also make sure that you are capable of speaking English and answering the questions properly. You should keep the answers detailed but not too long or short at the same time.
You will have to stay on topic. The answer to the questions should not be irrelevant. If you are unable to answer the question properly, they’ll repeat the question. If you are unable to understand/answer then they may skip the question.
The interviewer will make an initial decision on whether the student applying for the UK is a genuine applicant and whether their level of English is sufficient.
The interview results will be handed over to the immigration officer. He will be the one to decide whether or not the student should be granted a visa.
Before attending the interview, the students should know that it is their chance to demonstrate their true intention of visiting the UK. A student should do his own research and learn more about the UK, chosen course, and institution. Keeping yourself prepared for the interview will raise the chances of you passing the test.
